About Us

Bug Busters has been providing pest control services for Western Australian homes and buildings for over 33 years.

Bug Busters started business in 1986, is 100% WA owned and the founder still works for us today! During this time, we have successfully carried out contracts for Defence Housing, Department of Housing, Rottnest Island, Major shopping centres, public and private schools, police stations, local government, hospitals and many others. We also proudly service over 2,500 homes per year. We have a team of qualified and experienced personnel in all areas of our business from management, office staff to field technicians.
As an experienced service provider, Bug Busters has an appreciation and understanding of pest control. We are located in a new office in Osborne Park which enables us to easily service areas to the north, south and east.

We cover all common pests including but not limited to: ants, bees, wasps, spiders, rats and rodents, cockroaches, bed bugs, and termites. We also specialise in feral bird control and feral animal control. We have a corporate firearm licence and regularly cull pigeons around Perth. We also install physical bird barriers such as netting and spiking.

Subterranean Termites

Moving to their food source through mud tunnels, subterranean termites need moist soil to survive. Their colour depends on their role in the colony. Workers are pale cream, soldiers are pale cream with a brown head, primary reproductives are black or brown, and supplementary reproductives are white.

Formosan Termites

Also soil-borne, these are less common than subterranean termites and look different too, with a translucent orange colour and longer body.

Drywood Termite

These termites don’t need soil to thrive and can live in wood alone. Slightly larger than subterranean types (up to 1/2in), drywood termites are dark to light brown and live in smaller colonies.

Termite Baiting

If you already have active termites inside your home and the entry point is unknown, Bug Busters strongly recommends using Exterra termite baiting systems.

These high-performance bait stations intercept foraging termites before they get into your property, affecting the termite’s ability to shed its exoskeleton (which causes them to die).

Because the bait is less toxic than table salt, termite baiting stations can quickly eliminate whole colonies—without harming your property or causing further damage to the environment.

We place the Exterra stations around your building’s external perimeter, often embedded in the soil, and inspect them regularly until termites are intercepted and eliminated.

Termite Barrier Treatments

An effective solution for concrete slab properties, termite barriers can either be physical or chemical.

Most new homes are now built with physical termite barriers, which come in the form of specially treated plastic or metal mesh sheeting around the edges of the concrete slab.

There are four approved pesticides for chemical barrier treatments that can be used, all of which vary in their chemical make-up, toxicity, and lifespan. However, due to the breakdown of these pesticides over time, the perimeter needs constant monitoring before being re-treated periodically to ensure your property remains protected.

Termite inspections should be carried out before termite barriers are installed. If active termites are found inside, they must be treated before the barriers are installed.
